YouTube Content ID
Retrosheep uses YouTube's Content ID system to identify and protect original music across the platform. This means that videos uploaded by third parties that contain Retrosheep music may receive an automated Content ID claim.
What this means for you:
If your video has received a Content ID claim from Retrosheep, it means our music has been detected in your content. A claim is not a strike — it does not penalise your channel. Depending on the claim type, it may result in adverts being placed on your video, or viewing being restricted in certain territories.
If You Have a Licence to Use the Music
If you have purchased a licence or received written permission from Retrosheep to use the music in your video, please contact us via our rights enquiries page with your proof of licence and video URL and we will release the claim promptly.
If You Believe the Claim is Incorrect
If you believe a Content ID claim has been applied to your video in error — for example, if the music in your video is not from the Retrosheep catalogue — please contact us directly before filing a dispute through YouTube.
We will investigate and respond within 5 working days. Filing a false counter-dispute on YouTube without contacting us first may result in a copyright strike against your channel, which we want to avoid for everyone involved.
False Claims Against Retrosheep
Retrosheep is aware that third parties sometimes file fraudulent Content ID claims against independent artists, including against Retrosheep's own official uploads and livestreams. Any automated claims filed against official Retrosheep content are incorrect and will be disputed.
