Chill Out Drive Time: A Night Run Through Blackwood in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
There's something about a quiet night drive that resets the mind. No traffic, no noise, just the hum of a turbocharged engine and empty streets stretching out ahead. In this latest video, I take the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo out for a slow-burn night cruise through my home town of Blackwood, South Wales — no rush, no destination, just the drive.
The Car
The Evo doesn't need an introduction if you know your JDM legends. Rally-bred, all-wheel-drive, and built for corners — but tonight isn't about lap times or launch control. Tonight it's about letting that turbo whistle settle into the background while the town rolls by under sodium streetlight and headlamp glow. Sometimes the best way to appreciate a car like this is at half-throttle, just soaking in the sound and the feel of the road.
The Route
Blackwood at night has its own kind of atmosphere — quiet valley roads, familiar streets that hit different after dark, and that unmistakable South Wales backdrop rolling past the windows. If you're local, you'll recognise the turns. If you're not, consider this your invitation to a town you've probably never driven through, seen the way only a late-night cruise can show it.
The Soundtrack
No chill drive video is complete without the right track, and this one's soundtracked by "Wild and Free V2" — an original by yours truly, under the name Retrosheep. It's built for exactly this: laid-back, atmospheric, made to sit underneath the engine note rather than fight it. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
Why I Made This
Some videos are about performance. This one's about mood. If you're after a bit of chill background driving content — something to play while you're winding down, working, or just want to vibe out for a bit — this one's for you.
