The Eye of Horus, also known as the Wedjat or the Eye of Ra, was used by ancient Egyptians to ward away evil spirits and bring the wearer under divine protection. As a design it is immediately striking the distinctive elongated falcon eye with its characteristic markings, rendered in gold thread on a bold red backing that gives the whole piece a rich, ceremonial feel.
