Confirmed working tested before listing. Black label. No manual disc and case only.

Long before GTA IV tried to make open-world crime feel cinematic and grown-up, The Getaway was doing it in 2002 on PS2, in London. Developed by Team Soho (a Sony first-party studio) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, this was one of the most technically ambitious games on the platform. No HUD, no minimap, no health bar. Just a recreation of 40 square kilometres of central London, built from LIDAR scans of actual streets, and a crime thriller playing out across 30 missions.

You play as Mark Hammond, a retired gangster whose wife is murdered and son kidnapped in the opening scene. To get him back, he's forced to work for Charlie Jolson, the East End crime boss behind the killing. It's brutal, bleak, and deliberately filmic structured like a Guy Ritchie film crossed with Heat, with a cast of mo-capped actors delivering proper dramatic performances. The second half flips perspective to a police detective working the same case from the other side.

The no-HUD design means you navigate by watching which way your character glances at junctions, and judge health by how your character moves staggering when badly hurt, leaning against walls to recover. It's uncompromising in ways that modern games rarely are.

A technically impressive, atmospherically distinct title that captures a very specific version of London gangland that no game before or since has quite replicated. Followed by The Getaway: Black Monday in 2004 if you want more.
