Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell PS2 | PlayStation 2 | Ubisoft | 2003 | PAL UK | Stealth Action | Sam Fisher | Third Echelon
Confirmed working tested before listing.
The one that started it all. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell introduced Sam Fisher Third Echelon's most lethal operative and redefined what stealth games could look like on PS2. Where Metal Gear Solid gave you cinematic drama, Splinter Cell gave you darkness, patience, and the satisfaction of ghosting through a level without a single guard knowing you were ever there.
You play as Sam Fisher, a black ops agent working for a covert NSA sub-division. Your missions take you through Georgian military bases, CIA headquarters, police stations and beyond each environment built around light, shadow and sound. Stick to the dark, move slowly, and use the environment to your advantage. Get spotted, and things go wrong fast.
The range of tools available is what makes it stand out night vision and thermal goggles, split jumping to prop yourself between walls, zip lines, rappelling from ceilings, the ability to grab and use guards as human shields. It feels genuinely tactical in a way that still holds up.
This is the first entry in the series that went on to spawn Pandora Tomorrow, Chaos Theory and beyond. A landmark PS2 stealth game and a solid addition to any retro collection.
