When Zone of the Enders launched in 2001, thousands of players bought it primarily to get their hands on the MGS2 demo bundled inside. That demo a full playable section of Raiden's tanker mission was one of the first glimpses of what the PS2 could really do, and it caused a genuine stir at the time. For Metal Gear and Kojima collectors, this copy is the one to have.

The ZOE game itself is no throwaway either. Produced by Hideo Kojima and set in the same universe, it's a fast, fluid mech action game where you pilot the orbital frame Jehuty against waves of enemy frames in fully three-dimensional space combat. The movement system is exceptional you can dash, fly, dash-cancel, and chain attacks together in ways that still feel satisfying. Battles are quick and kinetic, with the game rewarding aggressive play and spatial awareness over button mashing.

The story follows a young boy named Leo who stumbles upon Jehuty during a colony invasion and is forced to pilot it to survival a classic Kojima setup with anime-style cutscenes and a genuinely memorable soundtrack from Canta Per Me composer Hikaru Utada.

A must for any serious Konami or Kojima collection, and a legitimate piece of PS2 launch history.
